Medication made for individual needs.

When a commercially available medication does not meet an individual patient’s needs, our non-sterile compounding team may be able to prepare a customized strength, dosage form, flavor, or selected ingredient combination pursuant to a valid prescription.

Ask us about compounded preparations

Patients and prescribers ask about compounding in areas such as:

  • Dermatology preparations
  • Pediatric and specialty oral liquids and capsules
  • Flavoring for hard-to-take medications
  • Hormone therapy
  • Pain management and topical preparations
  • Oral, dental, and mucositis preparations
  • ENT preparations
  • Podiatry, wound, and barrier preparations
  • Men’s health
  • Veterinary preparations

Every compounded preparation requires a valid prescription and a pharmacy review of the specific formula.

How compounding works

  1. A prescriber sends a valid prescription.

  2. The pharmacy reviews the formula, ingredients, feasibility, and patient-specific information.

  3. Staff provides pricing and an estimated preparation timeline.

  4. The medication is prepared and pharmacist-checked.

  5. The pharmacy provides pickup, eligible delivery/shipping, use, storage, and refill information.

Preparation time depends on the formula, ingredient availability, current workload, and required quality procedures. Staff will provide an estimate after reviewing the prescription.
